OnceDaily runs startup items only the first time you turn on your Mac each day, and not everytime.
Uses for OnceDaily include checking email, backing up files, and other tasks that may be required only once a day.
How to use:
While OnceDaily is outside of the startup items folder:
Double click to open "OnceDaily". A dialog will appear telling you that a folder called "OnceDaily Items" has be created in your system folder. (This dialog only appears on the first run - or more so - if the folder called "OnceDaily Items" does not exist. This dialog won't show if "OnceDaily Items" folder is present inside the system folder.)
The general welcome screen appears which contains a button called "Options" where you will find an option for the "start of day" time. OnceDaily does not always necessarily consider 12 o'clock midnight to be the start of a new day, because many people work on their computers past this time. The start of day time can be anywhere between 12 am midnight to 11 am. Enter the time which suits you best (enter the number only, 0 = midnight, 11 = 11 am).
Put any OnceDaily items, or aliases to those items, in this folder. These items will be opened only once a day, after the hour you have chosen in the last step.
Put the "OnceDaily" application in the "Startup Items" folder in the system folder.
The settings dialogs that you just viewed will not appear once OnceDaily is inside the startup items folder.
If you need to access OnceDaily's options again, you'll have to move OnceDaily out of the Startup Items folder.
Once OnceDaily has run after the first time, it will not startup items in "OnceDaily Items" folder the until the next day. However you can reset OnceDaily by moving the "OnceDaily" out of the Startup Items folder and launching OnceDaily once again, then return it to the Startup Items folder.
